JMEC briefs members of the UN Panel of Experts on South Sudan

The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) has on Thursday briefed members of the United Nation Panel of Experts on South Sudan.

The two members Andrews Atta-Asamoah (Pictured Right) and Andrei Kolmakov were briefed by the JMEC Deputy Chairperson Amb. Gen. Augostino Njoroge and the Chief of Staff Amb. Berhanu Kebede.

Also present during the meeting were JMEC Thematic Advisors.

Among issues discussed included status of implementation of the Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict of the Republic of South Sudan (ARCSS).

The two of the five members of the Panel were also briefed on the High Level Revitalization Forum and what the it  seeks to achieve towards inclusive peace process.

The UN Panel of Experts whose mandate was extended pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 2290 (2016, are mandated to gather, examine and analyse information regarding incidents of non-compliance and to report to the Sanctions of the Security Council for appropriate action.
