Lack of financial and logistical support continues to hamper the implementation of the cantonment of troops as envisaged by the South Sudan peace Agreement, the chairpersons of the Joint Military Ceasefire Commission (JMCC) have said.

The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) said it has received the demise of Ambassador General Andrew Makur Thou “with utter shock and deep sorrow”.

A two-day workshop on the recently signed Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (CoHA) has opened in Juba on Monday.

In a bid to enhance understanding of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement signed between Parties, women in South Sudan will from Monday (March 5) gather for a two-day workshop in Juba.

The forum is being organized by the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC), community outreach unit of the UN Mission’s Public Information Office, Wipe My Tears Foundation and Ceasefire Monitor, CTSAMM. 

The Chairperson of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) H.E. Festus Mogae has met H.E. President Salva Kiir at J1 on Tuesday.

 During the meeting, H.E Mogae commended the Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU) for participating in the High Level Revitalization Forum (HLRF), saying the process has “generated optimism” towards the implementation of the Peace Agreement.

THE Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) 22nd plenary meeting scheduled for Tuesday is postponed until further notice, pending consultations with the Chairperson of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Chairperson, H.E. Festus Mogae, has announced.
